Ward 7 Town Councillor Scott Xie
Councillor Scott Xie was elected Town Councillor for Ward 7 in 2022.
Councillor Xie is an active and devoted community leader. After years of experience in strategic management and professional development as well as participation in public school council as an executive member, he was a recipient of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Community Service Award for his contribution to the community. Councillor Xie is a steadfast supporter for community outreach and youth leadership, which inspired him to co-found the Chinese Canadian Association for Civic Engagement, promoting awareness and participation in local civic activities.
In addition, as the co-founder of Oak Medical Education Foundation (OMEF), he has been taking action to support the medical community in Oakville and is widely recognized for his leadership and service. As a strong advocate for inclusivity, he has been fostering extensive connections and creating cross-cultural programming amongst newcomers within the community.
Councillor Xie has more than 25 years of professional experience in executive education and global learning and education. He has demonstrated expertise in educational program design and professional development in both academia and the corporate world.
In the past, Councillor Xie was a member of the President's International Council and took several leadership positions for executive education at the University of Toronto. He played a key role in international partnership initiatives and collaborations, business development, and program management in Asia. He obtained his Doctor of Business Administration degree from Henley Business School at University of Reading, UK in collaboration with Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto.
Councillor Xie is also an entrepreneur who has cofounded an Ed-Tech venture as well as a few educational consulting companies in the GTA.
Councillor Xie, along with his wife Kera and their two daughters, has been a proud resident in north Oakville since 2014.
