What’s Happening in Town
Council Refuses 4 As-of-Right and 4 Storey Around Sheridan College
At a recent Council meeting, two proposals aimed at increasing housing density were rejected. The first proposal would have allowed up to four accessory dwelling units, such as basement apartments or laneway houses, on residential properties as of right. However, the Council decided to maintain the limit at three units as currently permitted by the province. The second proposal, which would have allowed four-storey apartment buildings within 800 meters of Sheridan College, was also turned down.

Sixteen Mile Cricket Pitch Open
🎉 We were thrilled to announce the grand opening of Oakville's full-size cricket field. It was a pleasure to set foot into this spectacular venue first hand with MP Pam Damoff, Mayor Rob Burton, and my council colleagues Nav Nanda, Natalia Lishchyna, Tom Adams, and Peter Longo, This wonderful new space will bring our community together to celebrate and enjoy the sport of cricket. Special thanks to the federal government for their community funding, which directly supported the creation of this field. Huge appreciation to those hard-working hands and minds who made this possible!
Aside from the Cricket Pitch, some exciting progress is reported back on Sixteen Mile Community Centre and Sports Park:
Community Centre Steel Substructure: 35% completed.
All four fields and a full-size Cricket Pitch are now open.
Sports Park Phase 2, including a splash park, dog park, and all-wheel park, is expected to open in fall 2024.
