What’s Happening in Town
Just Released - 2023 Annual Report

This year’s report is presented in a new, easy-to-navigate format on our revamped website. Some of the notable achievements include the introduction of zero-emission electric buses, a comprehensive Housing Strategy Plan, and maintaining a tax rate increase below inflation.

New Oakville Transit Route
Oakville Transit is launching Route 37 Glenorchy on September 1, 2024, to provide expanded coverage in north Oakville. This new route will replace Route 5A and offer better transit connections for residents. Commuters and recreational riders count on our public transit to mobilize with ease and I look forward to connecting with many from Ward 7 on the bus ride.

Sixteen Mile Sports Complex expansion!
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex expansion, a highly anticipated project that will significantly enhance our community’s recreational facilities.
As of August 29, 2024, we’ve made remarkable progress on several key areas of the project:
The glue-laminated timber structure is almost complete, showcasing the modern and sustainable design of our new facility.
We’ve successfully finished pouring concrete for the second floor, bringing us one step closer to opening these new spaces for your enjoyment.
The excavation work for both the leisure and lap pools is complete, with concrete form work now underway, setting the foundation for top-notch aquatic amenities.
Additionally, work on the south and southwest parking lots is ongoing, ensuring that our expanded facility will be accessible and convenient for all.
This expansion is one of the most eagerly awaited infrastructure updates in Ward 7, and it’s heartening to see it taking shape. We’re building more than just a sports complex; we’re creating a hub for health, wellness, and community connection—a place where memories will be made, and our community spirit will thrive. Stay tuned on the latest project development here.
